Welcome to Hidden Hollow Alpacas.  We are a small expanding farm located in Erin, Ontario a scenic hour drive outside of Toronto.  While driving home one lovely fall afternoon we came across some rather interesting looking critters on a neighbor’s front lawn.  We stopped asked a few questions then immediately went home and googled Alpacas.  Much to our surprise we found an abundance of information.  We spent the next few months reading more and we came to the conclusion that this was something we could do.   For us there a number of factors that sealed the deal, firstly we could try it with minimal investment, secondly alpacas are supposed to be fairly easy to look after and lastly we weren’t going to be raising something that was going to end up on someone dinner plate.  We purchased our first four alpacas to test the waters.  Well after a few months our first two babies were born and we were hooked.  We then purchased four more females to kick start our herd.  Then we decided it was time to go big or go home and we purchased a herd.  We have since moved to a 26 acre farm much to the chagrin of my kids.  This is now the home for 45 alpacas (and counting), 2 livestock guardian dogs, 1 cat and last but not least 5 people?  It has been quite a ride and who knows what is next.

Looking for something warm & cozy  to get through our Canadian winter? We will have socks, mitts, hats, scarves, shawls, insoles, yarn, rovings and blankets. 

Alpacas produce one of the softest and most luxurious natural fibres in the world – so soft and rare it was once reserved for royalty. Alpaca can be compared to cashmere. However its unique qualities put it in a class of its own. Warmer and stronger than wool, alpaca fibre is hollow, making it very light with remarkable insulating and wicking qualities. Because alpaca does not have lanolin, those who can’t where wool can usually wear alpaca.   Come and feel for your self.
